In the evening of October 25, 2010, Velma Lois Ward was freed from her years of struggling
with the pains and illnesses she developed over her nearly 85 years of hard work and fun.
Born February 28, 1926 to Lester and Alberta Thornock in Fish Haven, Idaho, she was raised
primarily in Kemmerer, Wyoming, where she graduated from high school and married Phil
Rosendahl. From that union came three children Wayne, Gretchen and Lester. Mom spent the
next 27 years raising her family and providing for us with love and tenderness. She was a
member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1974 she married Bruce Ward
and moved to Casper, Wyoming where she spent many happy years working, traveling and
generally enjoying life, never missing the opportunity to shower those around her with
love and kindness. Mother was so concerned for those around her. In 1997 Bruce passed away
and after several years of taking care of their beautiful Casper home she moved to Salt
Lake City t!
o be near Gretchen and her family and her brother Larry and Mary Thornock. She made
