Gorden James Hansen, 88, of Middleton, formerly of Meridian, passed away peacefully
surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at a Nampa hospital. Funeral services
are under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27,
at the LDS Caldwell North Stake Center on Old Highway 30, with Bishop Michael Valencia
presiding. Interment will be at the Middleton Cemetery. Gorden was born July 25, 1913, in
Montpelier, the son of James H. and Rebecca G. Hansen. He moved to Boise in 1935, and
married Winona Barnes on Oct. 31, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gorden farmed and
raised cattle in the Boise, Meridian, and Middleton areas, and enjoyed gardening in his
later years. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his entire
life. He was Elders Quorum president, served in the bishopric in Meridian, and as ward
clerk in Middleton. Gorden and Winona both served in the Boise LDS Temple for

urvived by his wife, Winona; and six children, Anne and Mike Wagner of Middleton, Kelly
and Catherine Hansen of Salt Lake City, Brad and Kathryn Hansen of Weiser, Penny and
Ronald Short of Caldwell, Trudy and Bill Nebeker of Mountain Home, and Larry and Rolaine
Hansen of Weiser; 38 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and infant son, Paul Gorden; a daughter, Janie
Stearman; and an infant granddaughter, Marie Megan Wagner. Friends may call Wednesday from
11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church.
