WOODLAND HILLS, Ca. — Roger Jay Carlsen died April 15, 2002, at Kaiser in Woodland Hills
after a lengthy struggle with diabetes. He was born October 8, 1937, in Sharon, Idaho at
home. He lived in Sharon until he attended Utah State University in Logan. While at the
University he married Patricia Benson, his wife of 43 years.
Roger graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He practiced first in Sacramento for
the State of California, then a private engineering firm. He worked for the Boeing Company
in Seattle and later, at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. The next job was with Cast Iron
Research Association. He reached his goal of having his own business, ConCeCo Engineering,
in Simi Valley, California.
He and Pat have four children, Lynne Allen, Greg Carlsen, Lisa Condie and Eric Carlsen. He
has six grandchildren. In addition 3 brothers survive him.
Roger was a life long active member of the Church of Latter Day Saints, where he served in
many positions. He was known as an excellent teacher, and an enthusiastic scout leader. He
also served as councilor in the Bishopric. He loved the church and was beloved by the
members because of his kindness and concern with each person.
He was a booster club president for basketball and soccer at Royal High School and enjoyed
working with the parents and players.
His funeral will be held at the Church of Latter Day Saints on 1276 Erringer Road, at 11
a.m. He will be interred at Garden City, Utah, overlooking the lake, at 1:00 p.m. on
Monday the 22nd of April. All of his friends are welcome.
