Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Pearl Price Patterson Tidwell,
passed away April 25, 2002 at the South Davis Community Hospital, Bountiful, UT. Pearl was
born to Joseph and Elizabeth Price in Paris, Idaho July 3, 1907. She was educated in the
Paris Idaho schools. Later she attended BYU. She married James (Pat) Patterson, June 11,
1930 in the Salt Lake Temple. Pat passed away June 16, 1959. Later she married Delbert
Tidwell, March 24, 1978. Delbert passed away Aug. 23, 1989.
Pearl was always active in the LDS Church. She served in many positions including: the
Relief Society Presidency, Stake Missionary and Jr. Sunday School Coordinator. She
especially enjoyed teaching the Trail Builder Boys and working as a volunteer in the Salt
Her positive outlook on life and her ability to accept challenges with courage and a
cheerful attitude will continue to be an inspiration to those who knew her. Pearl loved
music. She had a unique alto voice, and her singing brought joy to herself and others.
She was extremely proud of her family, and we were proud of her. She was the driving
force for all 13 of her grandsons to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Her legacy continues
with her great-grandsons.
Pearl took pride in her historic home in Bloomington, Idaho. She generously spent time
and money to keep it well maintained for the enjoyment of her family. Thanks Mother.
Throughout her life she worked at various jobs, but her favorite was at the Deseret Gym.
Pearl is survived by her children: Beverly (Frank) Tidwell, Patricia (Ellsworth)
Johnson, Dean (Charlene) Patterson and DeEtte (Paul) Reed; a step-daughter Ila Mae Clark;
24 grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by
four sisters and two brothers: Violet Passey, Gwen Anderson, Dora Larson, Roene McKinnon,
Robert Price and Jay Price. She was preceded in death by her sons Earl and Brent
Patterson; her brother Ivor Price; and sisters Mabel Kirk and Osma Humphreys.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2002 at 1 p.m., at the Centerville
19th Ward, 400 E. 900 S., Centerville, UT, where friends may visit Sunday evening from
5:30-7 p.m. and Monday from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be
