OGDEN - Robert LeRoy Telford, 87, died Friday, July 9, 2004, in Ogden, Utah, at the home
of his daughter and son-in-law.
Bob was born June 8, 1917, to LeRoy and Eva Mae Calder Telford in a two-room cabin in
Randolph, Utah. He married Beth Rufi of Woodruff, Utah, on February 20, 1942, in Olympia,
Wash., where Bob was stationed in the army. Their marriage was later solemnized in the
Salt Lake Temple.
He was raised in Randolph, and then served with the 741st Tank Battalion during World War
II. After the war, he attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan. They moved to
Montpelier in 1950. Bob worked for Stock Chevrolet, Hansen Chevrolet, San Francisco
Chemical Co. and Stauffer Chemical Co.
Bob is survived by his wife, Beth, of Montpelier; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and
Richard Schmid of Ogden, Utah; four grandchildren, Mark (Cheryl) Schmid, Stephanie (Craig)
Tonks, Nancy (Justin) Mott, John (Amy) Schmid; and 11 "Little Greats." He is
also survived by a brother, Don, and sister, Bonnie. He was preceded in death by his
parents, brothers Dennis and Leo and sister Norma.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 14, at 11 a.m. in the Montpelier 5th Ward Chapel,
340 North 6th St., in Montpelier. Friends may visit with family at Matthews Mortuary at
702 Clay St., on Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from
9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Montpelier City Cemetery.
