Kevan Anderson Hillyard, 50, passed away August 18, 2006 at his home after a short battle
with cancer. Kevan was born December 26, 1955 in Star Valley, WY to Virginia and Demar
Hillyard, and spent his growing up years farming. He loved teaching, whether it was a
choir class, gospel doctrine, or computer classes, but his passion was music. He loved
composing and spent many hours at his keyboard and computer writing. He was commissioned
on several occasions to compose music for colleges and also wrote many songs that his own
choirs would perform. He loved woodworking and tending a garden with his wife and best
friend, Marcy. He also enjoyed golfing, skiing, and being at home with his family. He
centered his life around the principles of the gospel. Upon his death, he was serving in
the bishopric. His strong testimony was the foundation of his life. Kevan was a wonderful
husband to Marcy, and a loving, guiding father to Kaylianne (Orie), Chaz, Harmony
(Dustin), and Logan. He ha!
s one grandchild, Kylen (four months). We will miss him greatly but find comfort in
knowing we will meet again. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug 21st at
the Cobble Creek building, 8176 S. 5140 W, West Jordan, UT, with a viewing one hour prior
to service. A viewing will also be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the same address.
