Lyma Winn Beutler Cook, 103, died Thursday, August 30, 2001 at an Ogden Utah care center.
She was born April 5, 1898 in Montpelier, Bear Lake, Idaho, a daughter of Albert Frederick
and Elizabeth Jane Winn Beutler.
On February 20, 1931, Lyma married Merlin Norton Cook in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Together they raised seven children. They lived in Willard, Roy, and Salt Lake City.
Merlin preceded her in death in 1990.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she
served in Primary, Young Women, and as a Relief Society President. She and her husband
fulfilled a mission in the Central British Mission from 1961 to 1963.
In her early years she worked as a nurse.
Lyma was a seamstress and made and gave away hundreds of quilts of all sizes and designs.
She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, and gardening.
Surviving are her children: Irene (Don L.) Wilson, Nampa, Idaho; George W. Cook, Oregon
City, Ore.; Madalynne (Stillman) Harding, Willard; Douglas M., deceased, (Barbara) Cook,
Nampa, Idaho; Merlene (J. Oakley) Moore, Brigham City; Joyce (Hal) Stoddard, Hooper; 28
grandchildren, 104 great-grandchildren, 37 great-great-grandchildren and one
Preceding her in death were her husband, a son, Douglas M. Cook, and a daughter-in-law,
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Willard 4th Ward Chapel, 80 North
Friends may call at Lindquist"s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Monday from
6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Willard Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
