BOISE - Beth Shepherd Windley, 87, of Boise, Idaho, passed away at the Capitol Care
Center in Boise, Idaho, on July 10, 2007, of natural causes. Beth was born May 12, 1920,
in Paris, Idaho, to Edwin Tracey Shepherd and Eliza Roberts Shepherd. Beth was the last of
six children and the second daughter. She attended Emerson Elementary School and Fielding
High School, both in Paris, Idaho.
While in high school, Beth met Don Windley from Bloomington, Idaho, and they dated for
five years. They were married in the Logan, Utah Temple on April 23, 1940. They lived in
Bloomington and Montpelier, where their first son, Paul Gordon, was born. In 1943 they
moved to Portland, Oregon, where Don worked as a welder in the shipyards and Brent
Shepherd, their second son, was born.
After World War II, Beth and Don moved to Pocatello, where their first daughter, LaRae,
was born. After moving to Logan, Utah, for a brief period, they returned to Pocatello,
where their second daughter, Jolene, was born. Beth and Don remained in Pocatello until
2001 when, due to ill health, they moved to Boise, where Beth lived until her passing.
During her life Beth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints and held many positions.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, her five siblings, her son, Paul Gordon
Windley, and her husband, Don Gordon Windley. She is survived by her daughter-in-law,
Charla Bell Windley of Moscow, Idaho, son, Brent Shepherd Windley (Jill) of Logan, Utah,
daughter LaRae Wood (Fred) of Boise, Idaho, daughter, Jolene Hampton (Michael) of Erie,
Colorado; 14 grandchildren; and 19 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 16, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Alameda LDS
Second Ward Chapel in Pocatello, located at the corner of Jefferson and Walnut, with
Bishop Doug Alley conducting. A viewing for friends and family will be held at the same
location at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens,
2864 South Fifth Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
Funeral services are under the direction of the Cornelison-Henderson Funeral Home, 431
North 15th Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Capitol Care Center in Boise, Idaho,
for the loving care shown to their mother.
