I had need to ask this same question a short time ago, so I wrote to the
editor of the SCJ and he emailed me back informing me that the public
library carried all the old newspapers. Although I spent a good deal of time
there when I was a child, I don't recall the name of the street now. But
perhaps an email to the Chamber of Comerce could give you that info. Good
I am new to this mail list and new to doing research in Woodbury Co.,
I am wondering if there is a place in Sioux City where I could access
Sioux City Journal newspapers? I am interested in the year 1917, June to
September editions of the Sioux City Journal.
Looking for articles on the murder of Thecla M. Gerken, June 27, 1917.
murder took place between 8th and 9th on Jones Street. She was shot
unknown person who was never found. Thecla was from Woonsocket, S.D. and
staying with Dr. and Mrs. H.H. Hagerdorn, as she had attended school
Mrs. Hagerdorn in Woonsocket, S.D. I would also like to find an 1917
City directory so I could locate the address of the Hagerdorns. Any
information, suggestion or advice in this research would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
