I am searching for any information on Kristia Hansen Furuseth who in 1914 lived at 1015-10 St. in Sioux City.
He was born in Vestre Toten, Oppland, Norway and emigrated to the USA in 1907.
According to the 1890-91 history of Woodbury and Plymouth Counties (p. 841) (which just became available on Ancestry.com!), Barton E. BOYD (b. 1855 in PA, m. Tabitha FOX in 1879), one of the organizers of Moville in 1889, and one of its early shopkeepers, trustees and postmasters, was the son of John H. Boyd (d. 1864) and Sarah A. TOOKER (b. ca. 1835 in PA).
I am guessing that this Sarah Tooker was a daughter of Elisha Tooker (b. 1789 in NY, d. 1869 in Plymouth Co., IA) and Elizabeth LESTER (b. 1806 in PA, d. 1893 in Plymouth Co., IA). (Elisha and Betsy's other children included Volney B. Tooker (b. 1825) and David K. Tooker (b. 1830), both born in Wayne Co., PA, and each of whom lived in Plymouth Co., and had a handful of kids.) This guess is based on the following facts:
a) Sarah's maiden name was Tooker (according to the county history); and
b) in the 1870 census (IA, Plymouth, T90/R46, p. 35B) Elisha's widow Betsy Tooker was living with John's widow, Sarah Boyd (and one of Sarah's kids was named Volney (after his uncle?))(so I'm guessing that Betsy (Lester) Tooker was Sarah (Tooker) Boyd's mother).
Does anyone have any evidence to support or contradict this hypothesis, or any information to share on these or related Tookers or Boyds?
Welcome! This is the former Rootsweb list, IAWOODBU. We'll be discussing the history and genealogy of Woodbury County, Iowa including the surrounding region of west central Iowa, northeastern Nebraska, and southeastern South Dakota.
