The Marble Hill Press, Marble Hill, MO September 27, 1906
Dr. E. P. Dyball was thrown from a small load of building material which he was taking
home from Lutesville the evening of September 24, and the back of his head received the
force of the fall, on stony ground, and he was almost instantly killed. He was in about a
hundred yards of his home when the accident happened. The fatal fall occured about 7:30.
W. P. McCans, Justice of the Peace, as coroner, viewed the body on Tuesday morning and
found the facts as stated above. Dr. Edward Potter Dyball moved to this county from Iowa
about 3 years ago and was an industrious scientific farmer and was using his best energies
to make this the best fruit growing county in the country. (Bollinger Co., MO) He was a
member of the M. E. Church and his daily life reflected that fact. He organized and
principally maintained a Sunday School near where he lived. He was about 80 years old and
leaves an aged widow and niece in this county, besides a number of friends to mourn his
His remains were shipped to Seymore, Wayne County, Iowa, for burial.
