There is a Stephen Switzer on the 1895 Iowa State Census for Grand River, Wayne County, IA. There is a "D" in the comments for this record. In my research, I determined the "D" means he died within the months preceeding the census.
I can find no tombstone for him. I believe his wife died between 1856-1860 in Decatur county. I can't find her tombstone either (thinking maybe they buried him with her).
Any ideas on where I can look to get an actual death date for Stephen (or his wife) or a will or some other solid documentation?
All suggestions greatfully accepted.
Welcome! This is the former Rootsweb list, IAWAYNE. We'll be discussing the history and genealogy of Wayne County, Iowa including the surrounding region of south central Iowa and north central Missouri.
