My grandparents were both from Tama/Benton counties, but so far I've
not made any connections. It's hard to track down information from
out here in Woodinville, WA.
My maternal grandmother was EMMA NOVAK, apparently born 8 Feb 1885 in
Belle Plaine or Chelsea to Joseph Novak and Margaret Ulch (written as
Ulc) Novak, both immigrants from Mlecice, Bohemia, about 1860-65. The
couple had six other children who were also born in that area between
1861 and 1883: George, Albert, Rose, Kate (Katherine) and twins James

My maternal grandfather, CHARLES HANOUSEK, was born 5 March 1883 in
Belle Plaine to Joseph and Anna Hanousek, who had immigrated about
1875-79 from Tabor, Bohemia. His other siblings were Emil, Frank,
John and Anna.
Do either of these surnames mean anything to you? Thank you for any
