Welcome to the list. That's wonderful that you were able to buy the "old
Fisher family homestead". You will find some of the most wonderful people to
help you in your research at the Tama County Historical/Genealogical Society
in Toledo when you get a chance to visit there in person. Not too long ago
an addition was built that houses a lot of material that will definately
make your research easier.
The best to you,

I just subscribed to this list so I don't know how active
it is, how many people are on it or who is on it. So I'm
just jumping in to see what happens.......
My name is Dean Fisher. I was born and raised in Tama
County, Indian Village township, son of Gerald and Mary
Etta Fisher. I live in Michigan now, but have bought the
old Fisher family homestead in Indian Village that's been
in the Fisher family since 1856. I hope to move back some
day soon. I'm doing some research on my ancestors and of
course finding a few questions that I can't answer.
If anyone has any information on Emmanuel Fischer or his
children I'd appreciate it. (The spelling changed to
Fisher somewhere along the line). I've found the Turner
Cemetery listing on the web where some of Emmanuels
descendants are buried, but as of yet I haven't found
Emmanuels grave. His wife was Catherine Haas Fischer, both
born in Germany.
Their children were Mathias, John, Martin (my great
grandfather), William, Theodore, Catharine, Amanda,
Christinia, and Mariah. Of most interest are details on
Amanda, who married a Hughes, Catharine, who married a
Jacob Turner, and John, Mathias (born 1847?) and William
I've found an 1860 Census of Indian Village on the web,
and the Turner Cemetery listing, and an 1895 Carlton
Township Census, and the marriage records from the 1860's
Well, that's enough for now!
