In the Tama County records there is a divorce record filed in 1877.
It seems that Maranda M. LIBBY, listed as the widow of Edward LIBBY (who had
died 15 Feb 1871) married again 21 May 1873 to Jonathan ALLARD. Then in 1877
she filed this divorce action, telling that Jonathan had abused her and had a
bad drinking problem.
Do I really want to know more about this man? Yes, I do, good or bad!
Maranda in her filing says she had a four year old daughter by Libby (and I
assume she means the dau was four years old when she married Jonathan Allard,
but that is not clear).
There were several ALLARD families in Tama County about that time. Can anyone
give me a clue on what family Jonathan belongs in?
