Does anyone have access to either of these census records. I'm trying to
figure out the exact migration pattern of the following family. I
understand these records might report the county of birth for the children.
This would be a great help. Thanks!
JOHN2 GAUL (PETER1) was born June 15, 1853 in Luxemburg, Dubuque, IA>
Floyd, Sioux, Iowa by 1880> Greenwood, Kossuth, IA by 1900**, and died
February 12, 1912 in Bancroft, Kossuth, IA. He married ANNA "ANNIE" MARIA
Children of JOHN GAUL and ANNA FRIEDMAN are:
i. PETER3 GAUL, b. November 1879, IA.
ii. GEORGE GAUL, b. March 1884.
iii. SUSAN GAUL, b. September 1887.
iv. CLARA GAUL, b. December 1889.
v. JOSEPH GAUL, b. April 1890.
vi. ANNA GAUL, b. March 1892.
vii. AGNES GAUL, b. September 1895.
viii. LUCY GAUL, b. October 1898.
Boy!!! I really messed this up. This is what I get for venturing into
unfamiliar territory. GAUL is my maiden name, but my brother, Greg GAUL and
others have done most of the research. I work on my maternal grandmother's
family. I can't get this family straight.
It is my grandfather, Joseph Gaul, b 1890 whose birth record I'm trying to
locate. It was HE that was born in Remsen, Plymouth, IA, Granville, Sioux,
IA or Sioux City, Woodbury, IA. (I THINK I have this much straight now.)
Thanks to those of you who have TRIED to help me, despite my errors.
Yes...There is a big GAUL reunion in IA next month, but I can't attend. I'm
traveling that way in August, so I still hope to see some of the territory.
All of the correspondence regarding this event has stirred up my
genealogical curiosity. I LOVE the hunt.

I just joined your list and would appreciate ANY help.
My grandfather, Joseph GAUL, was born in IA, but various locations have
been given throughout the years. I'm trying to determine which location is
correct. I would like to locate a birth record.
Joseph GAUL, son of John & Anna Maria (Friedman) GAUL
born 15 June 1853
Granville, Sioux, IA or
Sioux City, Woodbury, IA or
Remen, Plymouth, IA
John & Anna GAUL may have owned land in Alton, Granville and/or Remen. Is
there any information online regarding land records in these areas or does
anyone have access to them?
By 1880 they were living in Luxemburg, Dubuque, IA.
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
Hello, I was wondering if someone could plz check to see if this couple were married in Plymouth Co. Iowa? This is what I do know, his name was John C. Nichols, he married Catherine E. last name unknown. They were married sometime after 1914 and before 1920. Please email me at home. Thank you for your time and help.
