Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Hello Monona County genealogy researchers:
It’s been a huge job transferring the Rootsweb email lists to their new homes on Groups.io, and there’s bound to be a bit of confusion along the way.
Unbeknownst to either of us, Richard Berkheiser and I created two new Groups.io, Monona County Genealogy email lists! We’ve put our heads together and decided on just one list, "Monona County, Iowa Genealogy” at https://groups.io/g/Monona-County-Iowa-genealogy <https://groups.io/g/Monona-County-Iowa-genealogy> .
This evening I sent out email invitations to you all to join this new list. Here’s Rick’s description of his vision for the list:
"We'll be discussing the history and genealogy of Monona County, Iowa including the surrounding region of west central Iowa and northeastern Nebraska.”
This is perfect for me, as my third Great-Grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Lewis, helped found Preparation in Monona County, and he and his family lived in Monona and Harrison Counties, as well as in Decatur, Burt County, Nebraska across the river.
Please respond to the invitation to join the new group so we can continue our conversations and share our genealogy research in Monona County and beyond!
