My gr-gr-grandparents, John (age 94) and Mary (age 84) are listed in the
1895 Iowa census as living in Lincoln Twp, and given their ages, I think it
quite possible that they may have died there. I'm also wondering if their
daughter, Sarah Elizabeth KRYGER (nee STEVENS - my gr-grandmother) might
also be buried in this cemetery since so many of the family members lived in
Lincoln Twp (and nearby Lake Twp) in the late 1800s. Sarah died between Mar
1883 when her youngest child was born and Sep 1891 when her husband, Peter
Kryger, married his second wife.
Thanks to Linda Ziemann, I understand there is only ONE cemetery in Lincoln
Twp, and it is simply called Lincoln Twp Cemetery. Could someone please
check cemetery records for Lincoln Twp Cemetery to see if they can find John
and Mary STEVENS buried there sometime after 1895? I have no death records
for them, so I'm sorry that I can't provide the exact date (but I hope to
learn it from the cemetery records! grin).
Other members of the family living in Lincoln Twp (at least in the 1880
Census, and some in the 1895 Census) are many of John's and Mary's children
and families, some of whom may also be buried in the same cemetery - so
please watch for these people as well:
(1) son Barney STEVENS and wife Emeline Melissa, and son Walter (also in
the 1895 Census) (other son Josiah or Joshua, and step-sons George and Jerry
Fletcher - away from home by 1895)
(2) son George STEVENS and wife Nancy with children Eva, Lillia and Edmund
(3) daughter Mahala with husband Andrew McCOLLOCH or McCULLOCH, and 11
children (all at home in 1880, 'Mahaly' listed without Andrew in 1895)
(4) son John STEVENS and wife Harriet (who have WILLITS and KOON family
members living with them in 1880)
(5) son Andrew STEVENS (living with his sister Mahala's family in 1880, but
not in 1895)
With many thanks for any information that you can share with me about these
people - especially my gr-gr-grandparents, John and Mary - and
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Are there any list members who have access to records from the HITE Cemetery

I have just received photocopies of official Death Register records from the
Iowa Genealogical Society indicating that some of my maternal grandmother's
family are buried in HITE Cemetery (see names below) and would appreciate
any information available from the Cemetery records for these people. In
addition, I would be very grateful if someone could check the Hite Cemetery
records to see if any of the 'missing' members of this family might be
buried there also.
When spring comes and visiting cemeteries is more comfortable, I would be
pleased to reimburse someone who might check to see if there is are
gravestones for any of them and take a photos to send to me.
