Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
As you may remember, I do not have access to any Mills County documents,
but if you ever have things that you need retyped, or proofed, please do
keep me in mind. My grandfather and his siblings grew up in Mills
County; although none stayed there past 1920, it was always dear to
Congrats on all of your recent accomplishments!

Hi Mills County Researchers,
This is just a little update on our Mills County site. David Shedlock
offered to share his Iowa postcard collection with us, and other Iowa
counties. I have created a new section for “Postcards” (
http://iagenweb.org/mills/postcards/index.htm) on our Mills IAGenWeb site.
Please feel free to share your historic postcards of Mills County. If you
have some to share, send them to me at kbtechau(a)gmail.com. Check back from
time to time to see what new ones appear.
The burials for the Malvern Cemetery (4,000+) have been listed on our
Malvern cemetery page, http://iagenweb.org/mills/cemeteries/Malvern.htm.
We also have a new page for the History of Lyon’s Township;
http://iagenweb.org/mills/townships/lyons.htm. And a new page for the
History of Ingraham Township;
A new biography page, with a photo for Amanda Ellen Buckingham,
http://iagenweb.org/mills/bios/families/buckingham_amanda.htm. If you
have a biography and photo of one of your ancestors to share, please email
me with the information. We have two different ways to post biographies.
In the past six months Lois Shaul, Marlene Skalberg, Kathy Weaver, and
Cheryl Moonen, added 89 obituaries for Mills county;
http://iagenweb.org/boards/mills/obituaries/index.cgi. That’s a lot of
typing. Thank you so much! Anyone can add to these obituary pages, *or*
you can send it to me, preferably typed, and I can post it for you. Many
thanks to these ladies for helping grow our site.
Please keep us in mind if you happen to be out this spring/summer walking
cemeteries and taking pictures. We are really in need of photos of some of
the smaller cemeteries, such as; County Poor Farm Cemetery, Glenwood
Catholic Cemetery, Glenwood State School Cemetery, Emerson Cemetery,
Hastings Cemetery, Wearin Cemetery, Mackey Cemetery, Van Eaton Cemetery,
Gowens/Turner Cemetery, St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Wall Cemetery,
Godsey Cemetery, Pleasant Hill/Estes Cemetery, and East Liberty Cemetery.
We need both headstone photos of individual sites, as well as Cemetery
Entrances. Please consider posting your headstone photos to our
IowaGravestone site; https://iowagravestones.org/ . If you need any help
with that, please let me know.
Thanks so much for all your support. I so appreciate all your help.

It's almost time for Spring ... warm sunshine, snow melting, green grass showing, new flowers coming up and the proverbial spring cleaning! My favorite time of the We at IAGenWeb are getting ready for Spring and doing our own "spring cleaning" in preparation for our Spring Reviews. New information is being added, broken links are being fixed, pages being freshened and we have been fortunate to have four of our orphan counties adopted (Ida, Decatur, Ringgold and Greene)!
We at IAGenWeb hope you will stop by and visit our new CCs. At the same time we hope you will visit our orphan counties and find one that is just right for your family. Our orphans are: Adams, Carroll, Cerro Gordo, Emmet, Floyd, Jones, Jackson, Lyon, Mahaska, Montgomery, Mitchell, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Sac and Tama. For more information on how you can become a part of the IAGenWeb family it is as easy as sending an email to our Welcome Hostess at welcome_to_iagenweb(a)iagenweb.org .
St. Patrick Day is near!
