Dear list members,
As of today, I have uploaded brief history for some early churches, and
surnames of members which we can prove, in Floyd, Marion, and Fayette
counties in Iowa, to our website. I wish the information was more
complete, but we have given what we have, of surnames of members, which
may help at least a few people. It is the best we can do unless we can
locate more of the missing church records. The names given serve as an
index to our database which includes full names and in some cases we have
obituaries, etc. If you wish to take a look at our site, which is quite
extensive, go to:
Or, if you wish to go the Iowa page only, replace the pbl.html with

I am particularly interested in the descendants of James M. (b 1817
Philadelphia PA) and Mary KARR )b 1826 Ross Co OH) BROUSE who were married
in 1839 in Highland Co OH, and settled in Marion Co,
IA (and some perhaps in Warren Co, IA). The BROUSE Children born in the
frame include Malinda, Standford, Charles, Albert, Matilda, Elmyria, James,
I understand James M. is the son of Peter (1783-1860)and Rebecca
James wife Mary KARR BROUSE is the sister to our great-great-grandfather,
Hiram C. Karr. Their parents are Thomas and Mary MONTGOMERY KARR.
Hi Marion County list. This is my first posting to your list. We are
searching for the family of Benjamin Morrison who
might possibly have migrated from Lee County, Iowa to Marion County, Iowa
sometime after the 1856 State census
was taken. At that time, his family consisted of wife Nancy;
Children: Rachel, James H., Lucinda, William, Buenevista,
Oscar and John. I have recently found a marriage record for a Buenevista
Morrison to Russell Hart on 16 June 1869
in Marion County. This name is so rare that I believe this
Buenevista to be the same as listed on the 1856 census with Benjamin Morrison
family. Please, anyone with further
information on this family or access to the 1860 and 1870
census for Marion County who could do a look up for us, would be so
appreciated. It is also possible that a brother
of Benjamin's, namely, George Morrison, might also have
migrated at the same time to Marion County. Thank you for
any help or information.
I am trying to do some research on my step-great-grandmother. Her name is Dr.
Georgia Chalfont. I am not sure when she was born, but she died in 1961. She
married my great-grandfather, William J. Wagner, in 1928. I know that she was
an osteopathic physician on Main St. in Pella Iowa in 1918. I would like to
learn more about her practice and more about her specifically. Would I go to
the Marion Co. Gen. Society to research about her medical practice?? I am not
sure how long she was practicing, but maybe someone remembers her or the
Thank you in advance.
