My great great grandparents were J.E Kelly b 29 Apr 1854 -in Ohio and Maria
E Williams b 20 Mar 1858 in Iowa. They were maried 20 Mar 1878 in
Knoxville, Marion County Iowa in the home of John Williams.
J.E. Kelly apparently went also by his middle name Emery.
Maria's parents were John and Mary E Williams. John from census records
appears to have been born in Wales or England (both are listed) and Mary was
born in PA.
On the 1860 census for Marion County the family shows the following:
John 34 miner born in Wales
Mary 30 born in PA
Sarah J 15 born in PA
E.J. (listed as female) 6 born in PA
Richard 4 born in PA
Mariah E born in IA (this was the way my great great grandma pronounced
The 1880 census for Marion County shows the Williams family listed as
John 52 born in England
Mary 48 born in PA
Richard E 23 born in PA
Belle (?) female 18 born in Iowa
Oliver W 15 born in Iowa
Wright J 14 born in Iowa
Alice (?) female 13 born in Iowa
Anna 9 born in Iowa
On the familysearch I found a possibly family for J.E. Kelly - he was born
29 Apr 1854....
This looks promising--is there anyone out there that is related to any of
these Kelly's that might also have some info:
John Kelly b 10 Nov 1813 d 11 Mar 1892 in Knoxville, Marion Co Iowa

William A Kelly b abt 1841
Lydia Ellen Kelly 6 Aug 1844 "

J.M. born 29 Apr 1854--- if I am correct this should be John Emery Kelly-the
birthdate is right--and thought it a strong possiblity that someone could
have spelled Emery with an M since it sounds like it could be)
Elizabeth E Kelly born 29 Apr 1854 d 1 mar 1877
Charles Kelly abt 1857
--It appears that J.M or J.E. and Elizabeth are twins.

Does anyone also have any connections to any of these people??
Hi, I'm new to the list. I am descended from William C. Allen and Lura O'Dell Allen who are buried
at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Knoxville Township, Marion County, IA.
I believe they lived in the Knoxville area from 1861 until their deaths in 1887 and 1891. William
was a farmer. They had at least 10 children:
Nancy b. abt. 1835; Delila b. 1836; Laura b. abt 1839; Samuel b. abt 1842; William Harvey b. abt
1844; Thomas Lyman b. Sep.1847; Cyrus G. b. Sep.1851 (died 1864, buried at Pleasant Ridge Cem);
Harriet b. abt 1854; John R. b. abt 1856; Laura b. abt 1859.
All of the children were born in Athens County, Ohio before the family moved to Iowa. I believe
Delila Allen married John A. Ferguson and they are buried at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery also. I would
like to know if they had any descendants.
One son, Thomas Lyman Allen, married Angeline Cleveland at Newburn, Marion County in July 1867. Five
of their children were born in Marion County:
Clara Melissa b. Sep 1868; William Alva b. Aug 1870; Mary Alietha b. Aug 1872 (died Aug 1873, buried
at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery); James Lyman b. Dec 1874 (died Aug 1875) and John Valette b. Jan 1876.
Thomas Lyman Allen and his family left Marion County about 1878, moving to Buchanan County, MO,
where 2 more children were born. The family later settled in Des Moines, Polk County, IA.
I would love to hear from anyone related to this family, or with any knowledge about any of the
family members. I am a great granddaughter of Thomas Lyman Allen and Angeline Cleveland Allen.
I am tracing Lois (or Louise) Marie (or Maria or Mariah) Wade
CRANDALL. She was born April 24, 1815, St. Thomas, Elgin Co, Ontario.
She died in Wamego Kansas November 18, 1879,while visiting a sister
there, and she is buried in Wamego. But the obituary states that her
home was in Wheeling Iowa.
Most simple atlases don't mention such a place, but one source
suggested it was in Marion County Iowa. Can anyone confirm that for
This woman's husband, Reuben CRANDALL, died in New London Wisconsin
March 15, 1877. If Lois Marie Wade Crandall was indeed living in Iowa
two years later, I suspect she was living with one of her children.

What a wonderful find (and rescue). Could you tell the list a little
about where in Marion Co. your Klein family settled and where they're
buried? I'm especially interested in Ruben or Reuben Kline (could be a
misspelling of the surname) in the Marysville area, as well as a P. Kline
(sorry, don't have anything more than an initial), who probably was related
Beth Perry Johnston
(and once upon a time from Riverside, CA!)
