I am researching the Evan Thomas family in Marion County. I believe

the NW part of Iowa.

Hi Marion County List:
I am researching the family of Conrad Wallace Walters and his wife Sarah
Heaton Walters. They were married in Wilmington, Ohio in 1817 and ended
up in Marion County in approximately 1845. I am also researching their
daughter Catherine Walters and her husband Uriel Titus Smith. Also
looking for any information on Solomon High. All of the above lived in
Marion County, Knoxville Township.
Will happily share any information that I have in my files.
Thanks for any help --- Barb Miller

I'm trying to find information on the following relatives.
Frank Jordon (or Jardon) born in Belfort France in 1840 married Amanda
Beliel in Washington Iowa. They had the following children:
and were listed in the following census as :
Marion County, Iowa census for 1880 Knoxville Twp.
Frank Jordon age 39 Laborer, born France and both parents born France
Amanda Jordon age 35, born Canada and both parents born Canada,
Mary* (my great grandmother)
All born Iowa
Mary Francis Jordon was born 12-8-1869 in Washington Iowa and died 3-8-1944,
we believe in Knoxville. She married Harry Oliver Kelly son of John E Kelly
(born 4-29-1854 and died 3-12-1933) and Maria Williams(born 3-20-1858 and
died 11-15-1936). The Kelly's also had a daughter Mary and a son Walter.
They were in Knoxville too we believe as Harry Kelly was born there.
Harry and Mary Frances Jordon Kelly had two daughters Marie ( born 9-1905
and died in 1987) who married Gerald Rapp. and Florence May
(born 8-1-1907 and died 12-26-1997). Florence was my grandmother.
Florence married John Archie Heath (born 1-12-1903 and died 7-26-1981).
They married Dec 31, 1926.
My Mother and her sister and brother were born in Melcher Iowa.
Looking for more information on these people and relatives!
The main surnames I'm researching are FLANDERS, COVEY, FORSYTHE, MARKS,
HENNESS, KINKADE, NUNEMAKER, SHAW, DEAVER, GREY, RHODES AND KENTFIELD. Most
of these people were among the early pioneers in this area in the mid 1850's.
I'm looking for decendents, grave sites, etc. I would be most happy to
communicate with anyone with info or questions concerning the above names.
Some I have considerable info and some very little. Happy researching

My name is Mickey and in addition to the above surnames I am
researching: BOON(E),FRAZER,HAYS,VALENTINE in Marion CO. Most in and
around Red Rock, Swan, Pella, and Knoxville. My RICKABAUGH related
lines are DOTY, DEMOSS,NEWBERRY,OSBORN,STEM, and YOWELL.
Also a reminder: Y'all might be wise to join the Jasper CO., IA
iajasper-l(a)rootsweb.com since many of the surnames I have seen during
this update also reside/resided in that county.
Mickey in Iowa
Does anyone know if in late 1874 or early 1875 there was an outbreak of
some kind of serious disease in and around Knoxville? My gggrf died in
early January 1875 and his son died a few days later. Both lived in or near
Knoxville. Makes me wonder if it was illness or something else, or if their
deaths were unrelated.
If anyone knows anything about this, would like to hear from you.
For those of you who have surnames that have been traced as far West as
Knoxville, you should also consider trying Warren County IA. The
Overland Trail passes through Knoxville into the Warren County at the
Ackworth/Indianola/Milo/Harford, IA area. Some researchers who have
followed my tip found their "elusive" ancestor buried there.
We might have some kind of connection here. My gg grandfather George Kline came left Columbia Cty., PA 1860's, to Illinois for a few years, then onto Iowa in the 1880's. He came with his wife and family, and their married children, Harriet Kline and her husband Evan Ellis, Peter and Nancy Kline, and possible George's brothers??????
I am wondering since your letters are 1854 and they speak of Ruben going back to PA, if Ruben and the P (Peter) are George's brother's??????
I will keep your email, and if I run into something will let you know!!!
My last count shows there have been over 30 messages sent out over the last
24 hours. I think that may be a record!!
Please keep up the correspondence! I know there are a lot of wonderful
people on this list that knows a lot about Marion County.
Don't be afraid to ask your questions!
You never know, someone may just have the answer to that question you've
been looking for!
