Looking for information on John Olson LEWIS who came to New Sharon IA
from Ohio by way of Illinois in the 1860's or 70's Wife was Lydia
Lucretia FRAZIER. John was a coal wagon teamster.
He was b. 5/15/1839 in Ohio and d. 1/7/1917 in New Sharon. I have a
copy of his obituary.
John was my great great grandfather. His daughter Sara Ella Lewis
married Isaac Newton SCOTT b 6/1/1844 in Illinois. Isaac's father Levi
Thomas SCOTT b.1816 in Indiana also came to New Sharon.
Their daughter Rose Emily Scott (later Rosemonde Scott) was my
grandmother. The SCOTT family was musical, had a music store in town,
played and sang in the Christian Church and at one time Rose even had a
local silent music theater in New Sharon.
I have old letters including a letter from George S. SMITH in Monrovia
California written in 1907 describing the SMITH family move to
Have a certificate of burial for Isaac Newton Scott in the Friends
Cemetary Lot 20 Section 2 in New Sharon.
I have photos, some old letters, an old New Sharon Pictoral Letter from
Chas. P. ROE pharmacist that has photos of the high school in New
Sharon, WHITACRE, WAY, and HAMMOND Co and the C.P. ROE drug store, main
street in New Sharon, the Methodist Church and the Christian Church.
Also have some hand written notes, undated, that aparently mention
cousins or friends around New Sharon. Names include Ray DURBINS, Essie
VAN CLEAVE, Harry STEVENS, Lucile SEARY, Clyde HEILSMAN, Lydia CORNELL,
Rose BROGAN, lots of ELFINs, Daisy LACEY, Ackley FLEMING, Edith HARBERT,
and many OGBORNs.
Also have some estate papers that list many townspeople involved in
settling Issac's affairs after his death.
Looking to connect with SCOTT and LEWIS lines from Mahaska County.

Recently I sent a request for a will search to the County Clerk of Mahaska
Co. for the above. Yesterday I received a letter back stating that they no
longer did genealogical searches.
Can someone in Mahaska Co. look for this will? I will be happy to pay for
