I checked my info along with D.I. Foster's Family
History written in 1902 and couldn't find a link to
your Samuel Foster. Leo Marshall, a Foster relative,
transcribed his mother's copy of the book and has
posted it on the Internet at the address
fascinating and is also quite an accomplishment
for the beginning of the 20th century, not to mention
the fact that D.I. Foster was half-blind! D.I. Foster
wrote about the Foster family starting in Maryland,
then moving to Pennsylvania and spreading out from
there. One branch of the family moved to Ohio and he
did not give further information on it. Do you know
if your Samuel arrived in Iowa via Ohio?

I have a link to a Samuel Foster, b.14 April 1848.
He lived most of his life in the Chariton and Lucas
areas. He had 8 children. He died on 30 Dec. 1898
and is buried at Lucas, Iowa. He married Nancy
Clementine King. Nancy had a sister by the name of
Mary Etta King. That may just be a coincidence.
