Dear List members,
In a continual effort to keep Lucas County IaGenWeb site fresh with new
material and idea, I thought I'd ask the list if they had idea, wanted to
offer help in adding new content to the page or might have historical books
like high school yearbooks, local town histories ect that we could include
on the Lucas web site for researchers to find their ancestors. These books
should not infringe on any copyright laws or should have the authors
permission to use their material.
If you have any idea, suggestions or might be willing to help in any way,
Please reply at your earliest convenience.
Thanks in advance,
One thing I would like to see on the website is a copy of the records of
the First Lutheran Church established in Chariton. If I could get copies of
the church records I could transcribe and post them but I am on the west
coast and do not have access to them.

I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Mrs. John BOWN of Chariton,
Iowa. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with Mrs. BOWN
likely in her teens or 20's at the time. Based on limited research I was
able to locate the following information regarding Mrs. John BOWN as
Katherine "Kate" B. ALDRICH was b. 1872 in Iowa to parents James Sheldon
ALDRICH (1837-1917) and Melissa Ann HENDRIX (1841-1918). Kate married John
Allen BOWN (1865-1952, son of Benjamin & Eliza BOWN from Evercreech,
England) and together they had three sons, Donald Allen BOWN (1895-1925),
John Keith BOWN (living in Temple, TX at the time of his Mother's passing),
an James Aldrich BOWN (living in Harlingen, TX at the time of his Mother's
passing), and a daughter Katherine "Louise" BOWN KING (Mrs. Richard KING),
living in Santa Maria, CA at the time of her Mother's passing.
Kate died 5 Oct 1964 in Boone, IA and is buried in the Chariton Cemetery in
Chariton, IA where she had lived for many years.
Census records provide the following details regarding the family:
1910 census of Chariton, IA:
John A. BOWN, age 37, born England
Katharine BOWN wife, age 36, born IA
Donald A. BOWN, son, age 14, born IA

+ 4 Roomers
1940 census of Chariton, IA:

I am hoping to locate someone from this BOWN Family so that the photograph
can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family,
or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
