On a visit to Iowa I stopped by the museum on Saturday May 29. I found the
museum to be open only on Sunday afternoons, but following Diana Hanson's
advice, I knocked on the door of Edwin Freeze (second house east on the
north side) who couldn't have been more cooperative. He came over and
opened the museum for us, and immediately started pulling out books that
might have info on my Cole and Bumgarner families. I found several very
useful items. However, he was unable to find the box of old postcards Diana
had told me about.
It's a great little museum. They have copies of most, if not all Jones
County Histories as well as copies of old atlases, with maps showing
property ownership in 1877 and 1893.
