I have noticed recently a trend of adding the "county" name after the
name in location - such as John Doe b. 4 March 1856 Clinton, Sampson County,
I know that the LDS requests this format but over the years I have not
encountered many people or gedcoms utilizing it, only listing city and state
or county and state but not both. I know my software only has a 30 character
field for names and places and will cut off anything extending past that, even
when importing a gedcom it will slice off any letters past 30.
Is there a reason why all of the sudden people have started to use this city,
county, state format more often?
