Hi Shari--I'm going to wait a couple of days to see how many requests I get
for the picture, then will take it in to be copied. So it will probably be
next week before you get it. Don't worry about cost--it's a gift. I'm glad
people are interested.

I am looking for ANY information on the KINSELLA or PERIOLAT families in
Monticello. The Kinsella brothers (Ed and Dennis, aka Dan) were partners
with Peter Periolat in a mercantile business in Monticello from the 1860s
to 1880s. Periolat was married to Anna Kinsella.

Do you have a scanner or a way to scan the photo--I'd love to have a
copy for the web site.

I am also researching the Foley's of Anamosa. My husband's great x 2
grandfather was the Timothy Foley from County Cork, Ireland. According to my
research, he was married twice. His first wife and mother his son, Edward
William, apparently passed away in Ireland. Edward William's birthdate is 1
March, 1848. Timothy married Mary Hannah Healy after he arrived in New York.
They had 7 children: Dennis born in Feb 1858, Catharine born abt 1861, John
L. born abt 1865, Michael born abt 1866, William born Sept 1870, Edward born
in 1873 and Anna (Annie) born in 1877.
When visiting Anamosa a year ago, I did have a great deal of success finding
many of the Foley will's in the paper. I did not find Timothy's though.
Time being of the essence, I need to find time to go back some day.
Timothy's first son named Edward, married Mary Jane Perryman. They are
buried in the Riverside Cemetary in Anamosa.
I would appreciate discovering if anyone has information on where Timothy and
Mary Foley are buried. I have heard that there is a Catholic cemetary
outside of town that could be the place.
I am happy to share sources and information on my Foley's.
Hi Shari and Cyndi,
Thanks for the Foley info. Makes you wonder if there isn't some kind
of a connection
there with all the same names being used. I just got a certificate of
Civil War Service of William B. Foley...it says he was
born in Wisconsin !! I have always thought he was born in Illinois.
So, now I have another
area to research. I wish I knew what the "B" stood for in his name.
Could be helpful.
Thanks. Good luck.

I am also interested in the conversation here. Hope you don't mind if
I ask if these are the Foley's
you are talking about. I have Mary Agnes born January 1873 and
Margaret Ellen born 1876.
Hi Janis and Shari, My Margaret Ann Foley isn't the same as yours. Here's
what I do have. Maybe someone out there will match. William Foley was married
to Margaret, No dates for either of them. There children were Margaret Ann B.
3/25/1866 D. 3/3/1941. Her siblings were, Jim, Charly and Patrick. Margaret
Ann married Thomas Archabald Evans. There children were Mary Ellen, Thomas,
Joe Edward, Margaret Ann, Catherine, William, Elizabeth Frances, John Edward,
Lawrence Henry and Agnes Lucille. It's strange that the same names keep
coming up in these familles? I have dates for the second generation if any
one is interested.
Thanks for you help,
I must have written the dates down wrong from your info to me regarding Mary Agnes as I put her as 1876 instead of 1873 I'll change that in my stuff. Do you have William L and Winifred listed as September 1883?
Timothy Foley was born in County Cork, Ireland in 1826 (Per 1879 Jones County
History p 694/695). He came to US in 1851. His wife was born in NY City.
They did live in
Mc Henry Co., ILL in 1856. Wm. B. Foley was born in ILL. per census. So if
Wm. B. Foley was born in 1845(as cemetery stone says), he could not have been
Timothy Foley's son.
It certainly seems a coincidence that Catherine and Wm. B. Foley were married
in Jones County just 2 years apart and that Timothy Foley's children include
a Catherine and a William.
Has anyone tried to locate a will for Timothy Foley?
The 1910 Jones County History has an extensive write up for Philip B. Daly on
"Two years later , Mr. Daly wed again, his second wife being Miss Catherine
Foley, who was born in County Tipperary, Ireland, 5/5/1843. Her parents came
to America when she was but 2 years old and she was reared by her
grandparents. In 1860 she came to this country and went to live in OHIO with
her uncle, Edward Foley. In 1867, her grandparents having passed away, she
came to Jones County, Iowa, which has since been her home. Her father, John
Foley, enlisted in the Union army during the Civil War, being one of the
valiant members of the 134th Ohio Volunteer Infantry."
