Joseph Burns, 59
Joseph P. Burns, 59, of Bettendorf died Saturday at Stll Lukes Hospital in
Services will begin at 11 a.m. today at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in
Bettendorf, with burial in Davenport Memorial Park. The Rev. Francis
Henricksen will officiate.
Mr. Burns was born Oct. 4, 1931, in Iowa City, the son of Raymond and
Gertrude Burns. He married Wiladine Chown on Nov. 17, 1962 in Iowa City, He
worked at University Hospitals
before 1973, when he moved to Davenport and worked as a clinical
profusionist for Drs. Dippel and DeRusso.
Mr. Burns was a veteran of the Korean War and was in the U.S. Navy and Air
Force. He was a member of St. John Vianneys, the Bettendorf. American
Legion and Iowa City VFW Post
No. 3949. He also was a former scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troup No. 198 in
Mr. Burns is survived by his wife; his mother of Iowa City; three sons,
Timothy of East Moline, Ill., Daniel, and Army Specialist 4 at fort Ord,
Calif., and David of Cedar Falls; one
daughter, Katherine of Marshalltown; one sister, Mary Ann Herman of Moline,
and one grandson.
