Edwin Lukavsky, 78
Edwin L. Lukavsky, 78, of Kalona died Tuesday at his cabin in Columbus
Junction after a short illness.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. James Catholic Church in
Washington, with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
Visitation began this morning at the Jones Funeral Home in Washington, where
a rosary will be said at 7:30 tonight.
Mr. Lukavsky was born Nov. 15, 1910, in Riverside, son of Edward and Albie
Liska Lukavsky. He married Margaret Dill West July 21, 1975, in Kahoka, Mo.
He farmed and was a plant
operator for 25 years at Cargill in Washington.
He is survived by his wife of Kalona; four sons, Donald of Washington,
Kenneth, of Lansing, Mich., Robert of Rolland Heights, Calif., and Dennis of
Chariton; five daughters, Helen
Kurtz of Brighton, Shirley McGraw of Flourisant, Mo., Ruth Barnhart of Iowa
City, Marjory Schrock of Washington and Joyce Scranton of Charles City; four
stepsons, Larry and Steve
West, both of West Chester, Rob West of Washington and Tim West of
Springdale, Ark.; two sisters, Mary Friese and Alice Greiner, both of
Washington; one brother, Clarence
Lukavsky of Detroit; 31 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren, and one
