Ed et al,
The correct name for the Sanitarium during the 1906-1938 period was The
State Sanatorium for Tuberculosis. The History Library has the Biannual
Financial reports for it but nothing else. The reports tell the number of
people treated and other illnesses encountered while in residence. The most
important thing they say is that the Sanitarium accepted people who could
not pay for treatment and gave them preference on the waiting list. I have
no idea who would have gotten the records when they stopped treating
tuberculosis. It could be the state or the university. It is extremely
hard though to get anyone to give up medical records because of patient
confidentiality. You could try to get her death Cert from the county to see
if it says TB as the cause of death. I think tuberculosis may have had some
social stigma attached to it.
