Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
When I was growing up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, there was an Oak Hill Cemetery
as I have ancestors buried there. Linn County - not Johnson County, however.
I believe it was in S.E. Cedar Rapids - near Mt. Vernon Road.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen is publishing a book, "Iowa City - a Sense of
Place". It will be a "pictorial history of Iowa city and the surrounding
area... from the 1800s thru the 1960s". They have collected photos from
individuals and will publish the book by the end of November.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of C.S. BEEDE taken at the Coover Studio in
Iowa City, Iowa. The photograph was likely taken in the 1880's or 1890's,
with the subject appearing to be in his 20's at the time the photo was
taken. I'm hoping to find someone from his family interested in having the
photograph back in its rightful place.
