My great grandfather was Earl Whipple, born in Rome on Jan 23, 1886. I was told
by my great grandmother that his parents were James Whipple and Martha Ann
Archibald. His father was married in 1855 to Susan Dougherty and was living with
her at the time of the 1880 census. I don't know her date of death, or the date
of James' marriage to Martha. I had been told of Earl's half brothers and
sisters, however, in the 1900 census Earl and his brother Alfred were listed as
stepsons of James Whipple--with the surname of Anderson. Now I am really
confused. Does anyone know how to find the record of my ggrandfather's birth, or
the marriage of his parents? James Whipple died in 1902, but I don't know the
death date of Martha. Earl had met and married my ggrandmother (Mary Bourne) in
Scotland, Missouri, in 1904. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
