Am trying to find obit for my grandfather - Joseph Robert Burch d:10 Feb
1942 in hospital in Council Bluffs, IA but was living in Missouri
Valley, Harrison Co. IA and is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Missouri
Valley, IA. He was b:17 Jan 1870 in Marion Co. IA & m:Maud Vaughn 12
June 1895 in Loveland, IA. Which newspaper would the obit have been in?
Thanks - Bev in Oregon
Virginia: I checked the 1922 Atlas of Harrison County Iowa for the name
TEDFORD and found the following.
In Cincinnati Township:
children: Delbert, Mary, Alfred, Myron, Chas. and Margaret.
Address: P.O. Box Missouri Valley, Iowa, Rt 2
owned 40 acres, section 36
(Note: Their land was right on the southern edge of Harrison County,
adjacent to the Pottawattamie County line.)
In the 1885 Atlas of Pottawattamie County, Iowa, there is a Josie Tedford,
S. Tedford and a T. Tedford in Rockford Township (again, adjacent to the
Harrison County line; so when they moved, they didn't move far).
If you need more details on this name, I would check the 1880 and 1885 census
records for Iowa, looking in Pottawattamie County. The Grange Cemetery is in
Rockford Township, Pott. Co., but when I checked those burial records, I
didn't find any Tedford. I also checked what marriage records I have for
Pott. Co., and found nothing.
Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.

I should be more specific about the history book; all the families seem to have been in Harris Grove, IA so perhaps the book only focused on this one community or it was a part of a much larger book.
Many years ago someone from my family copied pages from a history of Harrison County but, unfortunately, they did not copy the title page. There are biographies of my Parkin family and, in addition, several other families as well.
The families include: Jacob & Millicent Stern, Mary Perry, Austin Neel Patton, William Ervin, Angeline N. Perry, John Wesley Tucker, Nellie Chase, Claudius Townsend McKenney, Ann E. McKenney, Edwin D. McKenney, William Ervin, William F. Vore, Alfred Bennett Pugh, Laura S. Rogers, Ezra Perry, William Tucker, Simeon J. Comfort, John A. Parkin, Joseph W. Parkin, Sarah Jane Parkin and Alfred Longman. If anyone would like the biography of the those families, please e-mail me and I'll send them to you personally.
If anyone has an idea of what the title to this book might be, I'd be most appreciatve. It would appear that the date of the publication is sometime after 1920 and, unless the copies were shrunk, the book was probably about 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".
Thanks for your help.
Several of the names you posted are listed in the 1891 Harrison County Bio's.
Some of them are online. The online link for the 1891 bio index is:
