I am trying to help a group of pioneer cemetery commission members with a
special project. The project is assessing the condition of the former officials
(former Governors, Lt. Governors and cabinet members) who are buried in Iowa.
They need photos and a bit of information on one stone/s in Hardin county, that
of Lt. Gov. Enoch Eastman, burial in the Eldora City Cemetery, Hardin County.
The information needed is ... if possible and not difficult to get:
1) Section & Lot
2) Location of stone (such as Right off of the N diamond St entrance, known as
3) Approximate distance from the road: (such as 36' from the road, 32' from Row
4) Distance from surrounding stones front, back and sides (such as .to the left
of his stone 8'5" to the next one. To the right of his stone, 21' to the
5) Measurements of Gove./Lt. Gov stone . base, height, width and depth (such as
his base measures 54" x 9" x 14.5" tall and His stone is 41" long x
8.5" deep x
6) Family buried with them
They need several pictures from various angles (straight on, front, back and
sides and close-up of the engraving) especially close ups of any damage or wear
on the stone and the plaque, if there is no plaque they need to know that also.
If there is someone who lives close to the Eldora City Cemetery and would be
willing to take these photos for me, Please contact me off list. I will be
eternally grateful! I live in Oregon or I would take the photos.
I hope to hear from someone soon that be of help.
