Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned
temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It
will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with
increased performance and reliability for future growth.
In the meantime, please take time to visit RootsWeb.com's sister sites --
Ancestry.com and FamilyHistory.com -- where you will find additional tools
such as message boards, communities, and databases to help you in the
search for your ancestors.
Thank you for your patience.

Subject: FW: Important Warning re: Viruses
A new virus has just been discovered that has been
classified by Microsoft( www.microsoft.com <http://www.microsoft.com>
<http://www.microsoft.com <http://www.microsoft.com> > ) and by McAfee(
www.mcafee.com <http://www.mcafee.com> <http://www.mcafee.com
<http://www.mcafee.com> > )
as the most destructive ever!
This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by
McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed. This virus
Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its
functioning are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It
sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the
title "A Virtual Card for You". As soon as the supposed virtual card is
opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the
ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are
pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the
hard disk. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New
York, according to news broadcast by CNN( www.cnn.com <http://www.cnn.com>
<http://www.cnn.com <http://www.cnn.com> > <
<http://www.cnn.com <http://www.cnn.com> >> ).
This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.
So don't open any mails with subject "A Virtual Card for You". As soon as
you get the mail, delete it. Please pass on this mail to all
your friends. Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather
receive this 25 times than not at all. Also: Intel announced that a new and
very destructive virus was discovered recently. If you receive an email
called "An Internet Flower For You", do not open it. Delete it right away!
This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.dll files) from your
computer. Your computer will not be able to boot up.
! ! SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST!!
Anyone have any OLSEN/OLSON's in the Radcliffe area of Hardin County? I'm
trying to find anyone related to my Norwegian great grandfather, Karl/Carl
OLSEN/OLSON. I have a photo of him (was a young man) taken at the F. A.
Baldwyn Studio in Radcliffe, Hardin Co.... but I have no idea when the photo
was taken, or if he had lived in the Radcliffe area.
I have later found him living in the Ellsworth Township of Webster City,
Hamilton Co., Iowa according to the 1900 US census for Hamilton Co., living
with the C. A. Jerdeman family as a hired hand.
Also have found that he married a young lady, named Millie OLSEN/OLSON on 13
Sept 1902 in Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa. Testimony was given by a
J. P. OLSEN/OLSON--don't know this person's relationship to Karl/Millie.
They later relocated to the Brushie/Cooper area of Meade County, South
Dakota, where Karl had purchased 160 acres of land in 1911.
All I know about Millie's family is that her parents were both b. in Norway,
and she was b. in Iowa.
Are any of these names familiar to anyone?? Have had a very difficult time
trying to track down info on Karl and Millie.... would like to be able to
connect with someone on this line.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated,
I found out that my wife's grandfather and grandmother were married in Hardin
Co. Apr. 28,1862. Also found George W. Moore on the 1870 census in Hardin Co.
They left about 1880 and came to Oregon. George was born in New York in 1815.
GF was George W. Moore and GM was Elizabeth Mason. Any help on this family
would be appreciated. Richard Eddy (Klamath Falls OR- richhewes(a)aol.com.)
You can also check out Ancestry.com under the complete list of databases
and then click on the H section, scroll down to Iowa Cemetery Records. It
has 76 counties listed and I just found my great grandparents and when they
died and where they are buried.
