I've looked at that James, but I haven't related him to my great
grandmother because of the Charles, Gertrude, Julia and Lawrence. My
James supposedly only had one daughter, Helen. And he was born in
1861. If I remember correctly, the James with the above children (if
they were children) was born about 10-15 years later.
I really appreciate your note. I'll check on that James again.

Since I know there are people on the Guthrie County mailing list, I am
going to persist in finding my James NUGENT. He was born in 1861 in
Scott Co., Iowa He married Maggie Hogan in 1900 and had one daughter,
Helen who married a John Mercer.
Helen moved to California and supposedly was the mother of three
Surely someone knows (or knew) about the NUGENT family and the MERCERS.
James' parents and siblings are buried in the Blue Grass Cemetery in
Scott Co., Iowa so I have their data. I just need to know when James
died. He was still alive in 1930 census.
Can anyone help???
