I don't have a lot about Eva -don't know if this fits as I have no idea of Eva's
age, but I did find one Eva Phelps listed in the Highland cemetery.
PHELPS, Eva M. 1871-1949
next to her is
PHELPS, Henry W 1868-1962
I didn't see a marriage for them in Guthrie to verify that she was Eva Woods. I
might have overlooked it or they may have married elsewhere.
Sorry no relation, at least that I know of (smile)

I am looking for Mary (Moyer/Meyer) Salsbury. She was married to John
Thomas Salsbury in, I believe, 1872 and died before the 1880 census. I
am wondering if anyone knows if there was a state census between 1870
and 1880 that might have included this family.

I'm forwarding this to the list as Dar Hackle is not on the subscriber
list. Please reply to Dar, but I also think it's good to reply to the
list so that there isn't repetition.-Shannon Moore, list admin.

Could some kind lister, who has access to the birth records of Guthrie
IA for the time frame of 1900-1910, please look up for any children of
Edward McFarland (likely used middle name, Edward) and his wife Ida
name unknown). Surname of children would have been MCFARLAND. Thanks
much in advance for your time. Please email me privately. Dar Hackle at
Still looking for somebody that knows about Charles Ware. His wife and son
are buried in Guthrie Co., but Charles is not there, unless he is in a far
away cemetery. His wife's tombstone reads "Loving Wife of Charles Ware". I
have a picture now of him in a Civil War Officer's (Capt. or Lt) but have now
clue of where he served from. They came from PA and were in IL in 1850, IA
1860, MO, 1870 and then back to Guthrie Co.
My Jesse M. Bishop who is connected with the Wares also went to Dade Co., MO
and died there along with his wife.
I'm carboning this to the list so someone else doesn't redo my footsteps
and they can search other places. On your GOODWIN family, here's what I
found-not much. [ By the way If you have the page no of the 1870 census
I can tell you the twp]
I looked in the 1880 census index that I have to see if they are there--
I found them not in Guthrie Co but I believe in Council Bluffs,
Pottawattamie Co. p 275c

The names and ages of the oldest children match along with parents
names. You didn't give age on them so I'm just assuming this is the same
So my guess is they moved about quite a bit. I didn't find them in the
master cemetery index. Lots of Godwins, few Goodwins although they could
all be the same family.
You also questioned if they settled there so I also looked at the 1860
census which is online and found no John Goodwin/Godwin listed. So some
of the kids might have been there or maybe none depending upon when they
arrived and left.
Now I did find a different John Goodwin listed in Stuart.

Robert Gui 1 IA IA IN
but this is obviously not the same person

Good Morning Folks!
I'm afraid I've gotten myself into a genealogical pickle here and I hope
that y'all will be able to help me out a little. I am brand spanking
new to this list but belong to other county Iowa lists because of gr.
grandpa's dad and some of his siblings. But....gr. grandpa's sister,
Martha A. and her husband, John Goodwin, appear to have relocated to
Guthrie Co. by 1870 (according to the 1870 census records). They have 4
children at the time of that census, Edward H (10 yo), William H. (8
yo), May? (4 yo), Tiny E. (1). I have no idea if they were rural
dwellers or city dwellers, or which township or city they may have lived
in. The information that I received only said they were in Guthrie
I would like to find out anything I can about these folks while they
were in Guthrie County. Did they settle there and the children were
raised there? Did Martha and or John Goodwin die there? Were those
children married there and if so, who did they marry....things like
that. Right now, I have nothing as I just received the information
reporting them in Guthrie County.
Any tidbits or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
