THE SIDNEY ARGUS - HERALD. December 30, 1948. "Services Held For Frank J.
Liggett".-- Frank James Liggett, son of George B. Clarinda Greenwood Liggett, was
born Dec. 10, 1866 on the Liggett homestead southeast of Sidney. He passed away at his
home in Shambaugh, Ia., Dec. 21, being 82 years and 11 days of age.
He spent his childhood in Fremont county on his parents' farm. Sept. 30, 1896, he was
married to Mary Elizabeth Gould, who died in 1915. Eight children were born to them, four
sons and four daughters. They are: Merle of Whitehall, Mont.; Fay of Fairfield, Mont.;
George of Seattle; Wayne of Sherman, Texas; Mrs. Pauline Winkler of Sidney; Mrs. Nina
Clarkson of San Mateo, Calif.; Harriett Ligggett of Denver; Mrs. Clara Kerr of Linden,
Ia., all of whom are living.
He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Edith Stephens, of Los Angeles; two brothers, Lester
of Collegeport, Texas, and Walter, of Kansas, and 11 grand children.
He lived south of Sidney until 1919 when he sold his farm and bought another near
Bradddyville in Page county. He was actively engaged in farming until 1927, when he
purchased a home in Shambaugh. He united with the Methodist church in Sidney in May,
He passed away peacefully the night of December 21. Services were held at the Crawford
Funeral home Friday, Dec. 24, with Rev. Hugh Jackson in charge. Interment was made at
