Hello Fremont County Researchers,
Here we are in my favorite time of year, fall. A perfect time to be
walking cemeteries, or pumpkin patches, with our cameras, or cellphones.
Maybe we can do both.
Just a little update on Fremont County. We have been adding some nice
family stories and photos from individuals. I would be glad to add yours
as well. Many of you have written biographies, on your family members. I
would be glad to add them, with or without a photo. You can even add them
yourself to http://iagenweb.org/boards/fremont/biographies/index.cgi.
We are richly blessed in Fremont county to have so much, from previous
coordinators. However, two things we are really in need of, and everyone
can help with this:
First, our obituary site;
http://iagenweb.org/boards/fremont/obituaries/index.cgi, has less than 300
obituaries. We should have thousands. We need newspapers! If you have an
obituary for anyone that lived or died in Fremont County, please consider
posting it to our obituary site. If you have any questions on how to do
this, or want me to do it for you, please just let me know at
Secondly, our cemetery/headstone photographs site. We are so in need of
photos of all our cemeteries, and headstones. If you have a camera and are
in the area, please consider taking a photo of the cemetery entrance, or
overall cemetery, and sharing it us. They are a treasure to those living
outside of the area. Headstone photos can easily be loaded here;
http://iowagravestones.org/. If you need any help, please contact me. If
you have overall photos, or entrance photos, please share it with me, for
our cemetery pages. Thank you.
If you don’t live in the area, like me, but have pictures of your own
family member’s headstones these can be added as well. If you need any
help with this, please contact me at; kbtechau(a)gmail.com.
This is what makes our sites great, everyone sharing what they have. It is
such a great way to give back to others that have helped us.
Recently we updated our “Deaths” page and added a new death index,
(1917-1921 & 1935-1939) transcribed by Karon Velau. Thank you to Karon!
Over the past couple months, so many of you have helped us by sending items
to be posted, or adding to our bios, and obits. Many thanks to; Cheryl
Moonen, Tanya Webster, Terry Girardot, Mrs. Harry Wieder, Linda Hudson,
Kathy Weaver, and Lois Shaul. I hope I have not missed anyone. It is all
I am always looking for new information. If you have anything to share,
please contact me directly at kbtechau(a)gmail.com. If you see errors,
please let me know. I am happy to make corrections.
Thank you all, so much for your willingness to help others!

If you know better, you probably already know what the terms, Vital
Record, Primary Document, and Mortality Schedule mean. Maybe you’ve
thought of sharing your love of genealogy with others, but don’t
necessarily want to become a professional researcher. Here is an
excellent alternative – become an IAGenWeb County Coordinator!
If you have:
(1) computer skills, web page editing (or the desire to learn),
(2) a couple of spare hours a week for volunteering,
(3) a desire to give people free access to genealogical information,
please read our Volunteer Primer at http://iagenweb.org/state/primer.htm
We have great county websites waiting for you to adopt as your own:

Greene ** Emmet ** Jones ** Lyon ** Pottawattamie ** Scott ** Adams
Check out other County Projects at http://iagenweb.org/ for a variety
of information provided by other County Coordinators. When you’ve picked
a county from the above list that you’d like to coordinate, send us an
We know from experience, it’s fun to be a County Coordinator!
