Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I sent this to Iowa Genweb welcome Hostess, and am posting here also:
I recently purchased a scrapbook here in Virginia. In going through it,
I belive it was kept by a Parsons family member. I have found the family in
the 1920 and 1930 census in Estherville, Emmett Co. Iowa. Fred G., wife,
Elizabeth, son, Fredrick, daughters, Mary, and Jeanne.
In the scrapbook is a Class Roll for June of 1907 for Cedar Rapids H.S.
or Washington H.S. There are photo's from the newspaper of the classes, also
Cedar Rapids H.S. Baseball team from 1907. There is a newspaper photo of
some University of Iowa Coeds (13 girls) captioned "Who will be Mecca
Queen". I believe it is from between 1930-1935.
There are some articles about Oberlin Conservatory of Music. I don't
know where this is. Also a newspaper account of a Tornado in 1936, with a
list of dead and injured, also photo's of the destruction.
I am planning on posting the information about the scrapbook, probably
on Dead Freds, Ancient Faces, and or Somebody's links in hopes of returning
it to a Parson's family member. I would also like to post the other items
that may be of interest to Emmett Co. researchers. Would appreciate some
direction on where and how to do this. Thanks, Cindy Furman
Also, found this:
Name City State Age
MARY E PARSONS ESTHERVILLE IA 91(age) on Anywho.com, but no address or
phone. This could be the Mary mentioned above from the Parsons family. Can
anyone help me to get in touch with this person? Any help appreciated.
Welcome! This is the former Rootsweb list, IAEMMET. We'll be discussing the history and genealogy of Emmet County, Iowa including the surrounding region of northwestern Iowa and south central Minnesota.
