Ephraim Barker (b. c 1816) and his wife Margaret (b. c 1821) and their son
William (b. c 1841), and daughters Arah (c 1838), Malissa (c 1845),
Elizabeth (c 1848) and Sarah (c 1852), were listed in the 1850 census for
Ritchie County, (West) Virginia. Between that time and 1856 they
apparently moved westward to Davis County, Iowa, since Margaret and the
children are listed on the 1856 Davis County Census. No mention of Ephraim
at that time. The federal census for 1860 for Davis County does not list
any members of this family. If Ephraim had died, it is possible that
Margaret had remarried. The middle child, Malissa, who was my
g-grandmother, was listed on the 1860 census as working in the household of
a doctor in Cainsville, Harrison County, Missouri.
I've posted this data before, but sometimes it pays to repeat requests for
information. I would be grateful for any clues in my search for Margaret
and the other children, and for the fate of Ephraim.
