Could some kind soul look up on the 1856 film to see where Mary
McFarling is listed-she would be in Salt Creek Twp or Marion Twp, but I
have conflicting data and she may be listed in both. I have a notation
that she is living near her brother George Harward in Salt Creek Twp-I
wonder how far apart her dwelling is listed or if she is in Marion Twp.
There will be no husband, only her children including John David, Henry,
Lucretia, and maybe a Lucy/Lucian and more. I am interested in the film
version, not a transcription, which I think is at the library gen room.
Thanks so much for any help. Dar
I'm looking for an actual death date for my gg grandfather Nimrod Poston. His tombstone in Myrick Cemetery, Wapello Co. Iowa has been read as 1907, but other evidence suggests that 1907 was impossible. Have thought that perhaps the stone was worn and misread and that date was actually 1897? Last time actually shown living was as Nimrod "Partan" of Lick Creek, Davis Co., Iowa in the 1895 Iowa State Census.
Nimrod Poston (who may have had the middle name Asbury or Asbery) was born between 1826 and 1828 in Hampshire Co., VA (now WV). He married Catherine Gilliland in 1948 in Wapello Co., Iowa and their children were Lenora, Rufus Caldearon, Hurshel C., Emma and Ida. Catherine died in 1868.
In 1869 he married Elizabeth Jane Mathews and their children were Clara Belle, Stanley Mathis, Francis Joseph Wellington, Mary Josephine, Rosa Lee, Ray and Webster Wesley.
Would be very interested in and grateful for any additional information on Nimrod.

Is there a readable copy of Union township available anywhere?
Heritage Quest and Genealogy.com are unreadable. Ancestry.com's inverted
image demands a lot of imagination and luck to connect the "dots".
The page is 184[A] (that is the number stamped on the page), lines 29 to 34,
dwelling/family 209/214. Microfilm M593-386, Iowa, Davis Co., Union Twp.,
and Post office is Troy.
The family as best as I can tell is:
Bell, Jefferson J., 31, M, PA
Amanda ?, 25, PA
John A., 7, PA
James J., 5, IL
Am??? A., 3, IL
Thomas? E., 1, IL
Any help for getting a readable copy would be appreciated.
As an alternative -- Would there be tax lists available for any of the years
1869 to 1878?
