St. Ansgar Enterprise, St. Ansgar, Iowa April 28, 1937
St. John's Lutheran church near Mitchell, Iowa was the scene of the
marriage of Miss Margaret Ethleen Bowen, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. G. G. Bowen,
Searsboro, to Roland E. Eske, son of Mr. & Mrs. William Eske at 3 p.m. Sunday
afternoon. The Rev. C. J. Kumpf performed the double ring ceremony.
As Mrs. C. J. Kumpf played the opening strains of the wedding march from
Wagner, the bridal party took its place at the altar. The Rev. Kumpf led the
procession followed by Miss Laura Eske, sister of the bridegroom and Ralph
Bowen, the bride's brother who acted as attendants. Laurine Halvorson, as
flower girl in white satin preceded Miss Bowen and Mr. Eske and scattered
sweet peas and forget-me-nots in their path. The bride wore a floor length
dress of white moire with veil and carried a mixed bouquet of roses, lilies of
the valley, and forget-me-nots. The bridesmaid wore pink taffeta and had a
corsage of gardenias and violets. For the recessional, Mrs. Kumpf played
Mendelssohn's wedding march.
Following the ceremony about forty relatives and friends were entertained
at the William Eske home which was decorated in pink and white. A wedding
supper was served by Mrs. Emil Steinberg and Mrs. Walter Hinsman, Leona
Bublitz, Edna Walk and Dorothy Halverson.
Out of town guests were: Mr. & Mrs. G. G. Bowen, Searsboro; Miss Lois
Talbot and Miss Ruth Talbot of Chicago, Ill., aunts of the bride and Ralph
Bowen, Pontiac, Ill.
Mr. & Mrs. Eske left Monday for Searsboro and points in the southern part
of the state where they are visiting relatives this week. On their return
