St. Ansgar IA Enterprise - September 28, 1927
The home of Mr. & Mrs. Fred Duenow was the scene of a very pretty wedding
Wednesday evening, September 21, when their daughter, Myrtle, was given in
marriage to Mr. William B. Rowland, son of Mr. & Mrs. H. W. Rowland. The
young couple were attended by Miss Bertha Von Berger and Mr. Elmer Duenow.
Promptly at 6 o'clock, to the strains of Mendelssohn's "Wedding
March",
played by Miss Bernice Mueller, the bridal party took their place beneath a
beautiful arch of yellow and white, which included a white wedding bell.
Before the marriage vows were taken, Miss Katharine Von Ewertsen sang "I
Love You Truly" after which Rev. Paul Brammer of the German Lutheran church at
St. Ansgar performed the ceremony. Miss Von Ewertsen then rendered another
selection entitled "At Dawning".
The bride was very beautifully attired in a gown of maize georgette with
beaded rhinestones and a corsage bouquet of butterfly roses. The bridesmaid
wore orchid georgette with corsage bouquet of white roses. The groom and
bestman wore the conventional blue serge with small buttonhole bouquets.
After congratulations, the wedding party, which consisted of immediate
relatives, repaired to the dining room which was decorated in the bride's
colors and were served a three course dinner by the Misses Hazel Priem,
Bernice Mueller and Esther Nelson. Supervisor was Mesdames Joe Wiggans,
Robert Duenow and Arthur Rowland.
Mr. & Mrs. Rowland departed the next day on a motor trip to the lakes of
northern Minnesota where they are expected to spend about a week.
Since high school days, Mrs. Rowland has devoted most of her time to music
under Miss Katharine Von Ewertsen and has achieved the distinction of being
one of the best singers in this neighborhood. She has also loyally assisted
her mother in the manifold duties of a farm home.
Mr. Rowland is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school and also attended
the Cedar Valley Seminary for 2 years. During the world war, he was in
service for 18 months. Since that time he assisted his father on the farm and
last spring came to St. Ansgar and became associated with W. B. Price in the
draying business.
The young couple will reside in St. Ansgar in the Theodore Kittleson home.
