St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, March 1932
Naurice M. Nesset, son of Mrs. Lena Nesset of St. Ansgar, Iowa and Miss
Thelma A. Kompelien, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. A. Kompelien of Cottonwood,
Minnesota were married Wednesday March 23rd at 4 o'clock at the First Lutheran
church in St. Ansgar, IA the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiating.
As the bridal party approached the altar, which was decorated with ferns
and Easter lilies, Miss Maurine Brogmus of St. Ansgar, close friend of the
bride, played Lohengrin's "Wedding March". Mrs. I. Anderson of Lake City, MN,
sister of the bride, sang two solos: "Still as the Night" and "Because".
The bride wore the traditional white gown and a cap veil, enhanced by a
bouquet of deep yellow roses which she carried. Her maid of honor Miss Doris
Nesset, sister of the bridegroom, wore pale blue and carried pink and white
roses and sweet peas. The bridegroom was attended by Olaf E. Waldeland,
Northfield, MN.
Ushers at the church were Christian Hansen, a cousin of the bridegroom and
Owen Kompelien, brother of the bride. The bridal party left the church to the
strains of the "Wedding March".
Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served at the home of the
bridegroom's grandmother, Mrs. Frank Nelson, in St. Ansgar. Guests were Mr. &
Mrs. A. Kompelien; Owen, Irling, Ramona Kompelien; Mrs. L. E. Nesset; Mrs.
Louise Nelson; Mr. & Mrs. I. Anderson and daughter Marilye; Christian Hansen;
the Rev. & Mrs. Langehough and Miss Maurine Brogmus.
Several of the couple's relatives accompanied them to Austin to see them
off properly to their home in Madison, Wisconsin, where Mr. Nesset has a
fellowship in the department of chemistry at the Wisconsin State University.
The bride is a graduate of the conservatory of music of St. Olaf College,
Northfield, MN. Two weeks ago, she completed a tour of the Atlantic coast,
from Florida to New York City, with the St. Olaf choir.
Mr. Nesset is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school. He has been
attending the University of Wisconsin and expects to receive his master's
degree in August of 1932.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, July 1938
The marriage of June Tollefson, a former resident of this vicinity, to
Herbert Jones, of LaPorte, Indiana, took place Friday, July 1st, 1938 at
LaPorte, Indiana at the Methodist parsonage.
The bridal couple came to St. Ansgar by motorcycle and visited at the homes
of June's relatives: Mr. & Mrs. George Halvorsen, Mr. & Mrs. H. A. Groth and
Mrs. George Tollefson.
On Sunday a shower and reception in honor of the newly weds was held at the
George Halvorson home. The bridal couple left for home Sunday and on their
return trip will stop at La Crosse, The Dells, and Madison, Wisconsin.
The couple will reside in LaPorte, Indiana where Mr. Jones is employed in
the Allis Chalmers manufacturing plant.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, November 1938
Miss Barbara Walitschek, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joe Walitschek, and Harold
Fox, son of Mr. & Mrs. Ray Fox were married Saturday, November 19th, 1938 by
the Rev. William Kent at the Little Brown church at Nashua, Iowa.
The bride wore an ankle length gown of pink lace and silver sandals and
wore a corsage and a wreath.
Miss Blanche Fox, sister of the bridegroom attended the bride. She wore an
ankle length gown of light blue crepe and also wore a corsage and wreath.
George Walitschek, brother to the bride, acted as best man.
Following the ceremony, a wedding dinner was served at the home of the
bride's parents, with about 40 people in attendance. In the evening, a
wedding dance was given in Wilke's hall in honor of the newlyweds.
Those from away who attended the wedding were: Henry Walitschek and two
daughters; Mrs. George Walitschek and Catherine Wirth of Chicago; Mr. & Mrs.
Joe Bentle of Rudd, IA; Mr. & Mrs. Frank Holt of Grafton, IA; and Mr. & Mrs.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, October 1932
Hazel R. Sedlacek, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joe E. Sedlacek and Claude A.
Best, son of the late Mrs. Amy Best of Osage, IA were united in marriage at
the Methodist parsonage in Albert Lea, MN Sunday afternoon, October 23nd, at 1
o'clock, the Rev. John Hall officiating.
They were accompanied to Albert Lea by Claire Mueller and Irene Fossey who
acted as witnesses.
The bride wore light blue crepe and carried a bouquet of tea roses. The
bridesmaid was also attired in blue.
Immediately after the ceremony, the bridal party left for Minneapolis for a
short honeymoon.
Mrs. Best has resided with her parents on the Sedlacek farm east of St.
Ansgar since childhood. She is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school and
since completing her schooling has been the reliable and efficient assistant
of her mother in the home.
Mr. Best is a graduate of the Osage high school and a business school in
Milwaukee, following which he was associated with Joe Seimer in the dry
cleaning business in Osage. A year ago last June he came to St. Ansgar and
has conducted a similar business under the name of the St. Ansgar Cleaners.
Recently he rented the Steuerwald building which Dr. Steuerwald has remodeled
and is this week moving his cleaning establishment to the new quarters. The
young people will make their home in the same building. They will be at home
to their friends after October 15th.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, June 1946
Suzanne Rath, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Carl Rath of Charles City became the
bride of Rueben Perau, son of Mrs. Elsie Perau of St. Ansgar, IA at Bethel
Lutheran church at Rochester, MN on Monday, June 17th, 1946. The Rev. Fred
Hansen officiated at the single ring ceremony.
The bride wore a gown of white lace over satin, her shoulder length veil
was held in place by a headdress of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet
of red roses.
Leah Ruth, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid, wore a gown of blue net over
satin with a matching shoulder length veil.
The bridegroom wore a grey suit, and his attendant, Adolph Rath, brother of
the bride, wore a suit of brown. Both wore white carnation boutonnieres.
After the ceremony a wedding dinner was served to the immediate members of
the wedding party at the Hotel Martin in Rochester.
Mr. & Mrs. Perau left on a weeks wedding trip to the Dakotas where they
visited friends. They will make their home in Charles City where Mr. Perau is
employed at the A & P Store.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, July, 1933
Miss Doris B. Nesset, daughter of Mrs. L. E. Nesset, became the bride of
Olaf E. Waldeland, former resident here, in a double ring ceremony performed
by the groom's father, Dr. M. E. Waldeland, at St. John's Lutheran Church in
Northfield, MN, early Sunday morning.
The bride was attired in the dress worn by the groom's mother at her
wedding 35 years ago. It was fashioned from ivory organdy and lace. A tulle
veil with lace cap, and ivory pumps and lace mitts completed the costume. She
carried a white leather Bible and a bouquet of gardenias. Naurice M. Nesset,
a brother, gave the bride away.
Miss Harriet Osterberg of Virgina, MN, attended the bride and Conrad R.
Waldeland, a brother attended the groom. Dr. Waldeland used the same text,
James 4:8, which was used at his own wedding on July 18, 1900, at Six Mile
Grove Church, east of Lyle, MN.
Goldmark's wedding march was played as the processional and Mendelssohn's
as the recessional. Vocal selections were sung by Mrs. Naurice M. Nesset.
Following the wedding, which took place at 5:30 a.m., a breakfast was served
at which members of the immediate families were present.
Among those who attended were: Mrs. L. E. Nesset; Mrs. Louise Nelson,
grandmother of the bride; Mr. & Mrs. Naurice M. Nesset of Madison, Wisconsin;
Conrad R. Waldeland, Decorah, IA; Paul G. Waldeland, brother of the groom,
Northfield; Dr. & Mrs. M. E. Waldeland and Miss Harriet Osterberg, fiancee of
Conrad R. Waldeland.
Mr. & Mrs. Waldeland will be at home at St. Paul, MN, after July 24,
following a trip through northern Minnesota. Mr. Waldeland is employed in the
office of Mike Holm, secretary of state, in the capital building in St. Paul.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, July 28, 1926
Miss Thelma Riggins, daughter of Mrs. Andrew Ellingson, and Alton
Gilbertson, son of Mr. & Mrs. A. O. Gilbertson, drove to Spirit Lake on
Tuesday, July 20th and were quietly married at the Methodist parsonage there
by the pastor, Rev. Edge. They returned to St. Ansgar on Wednesday and then
went up to Waterville, Minnesota to spend a few days with the Gilbertson
family, who are camping there. The first of the week, they set up
housekeeping in the residence owned by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Tillie Olson.
Miss Riggins is a graduate of this year's class of the St. Ansgar high
school and has been very popular in declamatory work, taking many honors along
this line. She was also acclaimed as one of St. Ansgar's prettiest girls in a
recent series of pretty girls in the Des Moines Register.
Mr. Gilbertson also attended the St. Ansgar high school and for the past 2
years has been a student at Culver Military Academy at Culver, Indiana where
he was prominent in athletic circles. He was recently elected as captain of
the crew and was promoted to the position of Lieutenant.
Mr. Gilbertson will be associated with his father, A. O. Gilbertson, in the
onion and ginseng industry for the summer.

Sacred Heart church in Osage, IA was the setting of the early spring
wedding of Miss Antonia Falk, daughter of Mrs. Edward Falk of Stacyville and
J. J. Hofmeister, northeast of St. Ansgar, IA. The Rev. Father Baxter
performed the ceremony at 8 o'clock Monday forenoon.
The bride wore a navy blue tailored suit with matching accessories and a
shoulder corsage of red and white carnations. She was attended by her sister,
Miss Helen Falk of Minneapolis, MN, who wore thistle grey with a shoulder
corsage. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, V. M. Hofmeister, St.
Ansgar.
Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served at the John McNulty
home for the 4 members of the bridal party. At 11 o'clock, about thirty
relatives and friends of the couple were served dinner at the Cleveland Hotel.
Mrs. Hofmeister, a graduate nurse of the hospital at Quincy, Illinois, has
been associated with the Nissen hopital as nurse for several years and during
the past 2 months has served as supervisor. Mr. Hofmeister, a Minnesota
University graduate, is employed by the state in the state offices at Des
Moines, IA.
After a short wedding trip to Minneapolis, they will make their home in Des
Moine, IA.

Miss Vesta Amelia Thompson and Mr. Oscar A. Tidemanson were united in
marriage by the Rev. I. A. Lavick at the parsonage in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, Thursday evening at 10 o'clock, December the 18th, 1930. They were
accompanied by a sister of the groom, Miss Ione Tidemanson, and Mr. Harry
McKinley.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. U. A. Thompson of Burlington,
Kansas. She was graduated from the Burlington high school in 1927 and
attended the Kansas State Teachers College at Emporia, Kansas, one year. She
was employed by the telehpone company of Colorado Springs before her marriage.
Mr. Tidemanson is the son of Mr. & Mrs. T. E. Tidemanson, formerly of St.
Ansgar, Iowa. He attended the schools at St. Ansgar. He is manager of the
Standard Oil Station in Colorado Springs. They will make their home in
Colorado Springs.

Miss Rosalyn Rosenberg, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Ed Rosenberg, of St. Ansgar,
and Willard A. Trudeau of Mason City, IA were married Tuesday afternoon,
January 13th, at the Norwegian parsonage at Mason City, IA, the Rev.
O.L.N.Wigdahl officiating. The mother and brother of the bridegroom acted as
witnesses. Following the ceremony, a four course dinner was served at the
Park Inn Hotel to 18 guests.
Miss Rosenberg held a position at the Klindt Hotel until the time of her
marriage and Mr. Trudeau was connected with the skating rink. They expect to
make their home in Mason City.

St. Ansgar, Iowa Eclipse, October 5, 1939
Miss Mary Taets, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Mell Taets, became the bride of
Avery Halvorson, son of Mr. & Mrs. George Halvorson, at 9 o'clock Wednesday at
the Sacred Heart church at Osage with the Rev. Father Baxter officiating.
The bride wore a floor length white satin dress with a long lace veil which
was fastened to a halo cap. She was attended by her sister, Miss Florence
Taets who was dressed in a floor length peach taffeta dress with a peach
flower crown and finger tip veil. Both carried bouquets of snapdragons. The
best man was John Boerjan.
Immediately following the ceremony the bridal party returned to St. Ansgar
for a wedding breakfast at the Elroy Cafe. This was followed by a dinner and
reception at the home of the bride's parents.
The young couple will be at home on the farm operated by the bridegroom a
short distance north of town.

First Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. The Rev. Olaf A. Langehough

The couple was attended by Mr. & Mrs. Vernon Smesrud of Kanawha, IA,
brother and sister-in-law of the bride.
The bride was attired in a gown of white silk marquisette and lace over
satin and carried a bouquet of white lilies. The bride's attendant wore a
japonica colored dress with white accessories and had a corsage of mixed
flowers.
Mrs. Nyman is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school and of Waldorf
college and has taught school at Mitchell, Meservey and Dumont. Mr. Nyman is
a graduate of East high school, Denver, Colorado and for the past years has
been operating the Nyman farm near Mitchell, IA.
The couple left immediately after the ceremony on a short wedding trip and
upon their return, will be at home on the bridegroom's farm adjoining Woden.

St. Ansgar, IA Enterprise, July 6, 1939
An event of note Sunday, June 25th, 1939, was the marriage of Ferris
Griswold, son of Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Griswold and Miss Mary Pappas of Stacyville,
Iowa. Mary is the daughter of George Pappas of Billings, Montana. Mr. & Mrs.
Griswold have not disclosed where the ceremony took place, but admit taking a
short honeymoon trip into northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. At present they
will be at the home of the bridegroom's parents.

St. Ansgar, IA Enterprise, March 26, 1936
Mr. & Mrs. John Klusmeier of Otranto, Iowa have announced the marriage of
their daughter, Edith, to Alvin C. Rasmussen, son of Mr. & Mrs. A. C.
Rasmussen of Grand Meadow, MN. The wedding took place at Lake City, MN. on
Saturday, February 22nd, 1936.
The vows were spoken before Rev. Hall, pastor of the Methodist church of
Lake City. The bride is a graduate of the Otranto high school and the
bridegroom attended the Grand Meadow school. Mr. & Mrs. Rasmussen will make
their home in Otranto for the present. Mr. Rasmussen is employed by the
Otranto Grain Company.

St. Ansgar, IA Enterprise, March 1938
The marriage of Miss Dorothy Shoars, eldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Shoars, Riceville, Iowa to Wayne Duenow, eldest son of Mr. & Mrs. Carl Duenow,
of St. Ansgar, IA, took place at the home of the bride's grandmother, Mrs.
Alex Turnmire on Friday evening, March 4th, 1938 at 8 o'clock. The Rev. T. P.
Solem of Osage performed the ceremony. The couple was attended by Miss
Eleanor Duenow, sister of the groom and Dean Shoars, brother of the bride.
The bride wore a blue crepe dress and carried a bouquet of pink carnations
and jonquils. The groom was attired in brown. Attending the wedding were the
immediate families and a few friends. A luncheon was served the guests
following the ceremony.
Mrs. Duenow was graduated from the Mitchell high school with the class of
1934 and took post graduate work in the Osage schools. For the past 3 years,
she has been teaching in the schools of Mitchell county. She will finish the
term at Cedar No. 9.
Mr. Duenow is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school, having finished
with the class of 1933.
Mr. & Mrs. Duenow will live on the Joe Dalton farm at New Haven, where they
will be employed the coming season.

St. Ansgar, IA Enterprise, May 1933
Stanford Halverson, son of Mr. & Mrs. Sever Halverson, and Miss Emma
Anderson were quietly married at a Lutheran church in Minneapolis on Friday,
July 14th, 1939. Mr. Halverson, who is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high
school, is now employed by the Mutual Insurance Company of Minneapolis. The
young couple will make their home in Minneapolis, MN.

St. Ansgar, IA Enterprise, May 1933
Miss Marian Snow, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Snow, of Nora Springs, IA
became the bride of Walter Belz in a cermony performed by the Rev. Wigdahl, at
high noon Sunday. The couple was married in the German Lutheran Church at
Mason City, Iowa.
The couple was attended by Florence Hodenfield and Cecil Millard of Clear
Lake, friends. The bride wore a tan flat crepe gown and Miss Hodenfield was
attired in a flame colored crepe dress.
Mr. & Mrs. Belz returned to St. Ansgar following the ceremony and they will
make their home with Mr. Belz's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Andrew Belz, until a
suitable location is found for housekeeping. Mrs. Belz is a graduate of the
Nora Springs high school in the class of 1932 and Mr. Belz attended the St.
Ansgar schools.

St. Ansgar, IA Enterprise, October 1932
Gladys Helen Intorf, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Intorf of Osage, Iowa and
Alton Grap, son of Mr. & Mrs. Emil Grap, were married Tuesday morning by Rev.
Brauer at the Rock Creek German Lutheran parsonage south of Osage. Mr. Intorf
and Mrs. Emil Grap acted as witnesses.
The bride wore a very becoming dress in brown and carried a bouquet of
brown snapdragons.
After the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to Minneapolis.
Both the bride and bridegroom are well known as they have lived here all
their lives and attended the St. Ansgar schools. Mr. Grap has been engaged in
truck growing the past year.
They will be at home in St. Ansgar after October 15th.
The evening preceding the wedding a miscellaneous shower was given the
bride-to-be at the A. W. Miller home. The hostesses being Florence Miller and
Helen Intorf. The guest of honor received many lovely and useful gifts. A
mock wedding was the feature entertainment of the evening, after which
refreshments were served to about 50 people.

Miss Eleanor Pettitt, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. E. E. Pettitt and Frank
Shoemaker, son of Mr. & Mrs. Eli Shoemaker, were married Saturday at the
Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa and left immediately on a wedding trip to
Marshalltown and Atlantic, Iowa. They will be visiting relaitves.
