First a question for those who have already started
to transcribe the census. We know there are names
unreadable due to filming and script of enumerator.
Does anyone have a suggestion of what to put in the line
other than leaving blank? I suggest putting "unreadable".
The Mesa library microfilm reader has been getting a
workout. Joann you said it would be a hard job and it is.
The library has been helpful and has been interested in
what we are doing. I will say after viewing many pages
that the person doing the filming had a tough job due
to pages being old etc. We did see one twp where the
script by the enumerator was beautiful. Total opposite
Update on progress Crawford county 1900 census
project under way with the following twps
Willow = 29 pages 4-10-00
Boyer = 24 pages 4-10-00
Paradise = 33 pages 4-13-00
Union = 52 pages 4-7-00
Charter Oak 83 pages 4-7-00
Iowa - 52 pages
Milford - 45 pages in the mail tomorrow
Otter Creek - 49 pages in the mail tomorrow.
We could use some more help. There are 12
townships left. If anyone can give some
help we will appreciate. Any township you
transcribe, your name goes on it and is copyrighted
you get the credit.
Townships available are:
East Boyer, Denison, Schleswig, Hayes,
Nishnabotny, Soldier, Morgan, Jackson, WestSide,
Goodrich, Hanover and Stockholm.
The Denison twp is printed out and has 156 pages and we
have someone that is interested but I feel they could use
There is no time limit on completing this so, anyone
interested it would be like a hobby, plus you get
more aquatinted in using your software.
There is a charge of 10 cents per page for printing
and about 2.53 or less for shipping.
