My Aunt Betty Knowles died recently, she was born Elizabeth Jordan, her
parents were Arthur Jordan, his parents were Thomas F Jordan and Lettie
Elizabeth Martin and Birdie M Raine, her parents were William Raine and Margaret
Atkinson, they came to Denison in 1871. They were from England, both of those
families were in Crawford County early, I was hoping to find some one interested
in these families. We really need to find a relative that might want some of
the many pictures that were left when Betty died recently at the age of 90.It
appears that relatives may be hard to find, Betty was an only child, her mother
had 7 sisters, and her father had only one sister. Thomas F had a brother
who stayed in NY. Some of the sisters decendants my be in the Denison area. They
would be Charles Christiansen, C.E Humphry, and R.W Buchanan, and a sister
may have been married twice, second to AE Lyman. Is there a old County history
that might put this together for me? Any help you might be would be
appreciated, Betty and my Uncle Eddy Knowles, had no children, we of the extended
Knowles family were her only family. Is there a museaum or some other entity that
might be interested in old pictures of a pioneer family, it is possible we have
some pictures of building in Denison, they are not ided so we don't know.
Hi! I am new to your list and am very happy to have found it. I have just started researching a branch in my family tree with roots in Crawford County. I am in need of any information anyone can provide.
My G-Grandmother was Anna Christine Opperman b.August 11, 1891 (census records show 1893) d. August 03, 1975 in Manilla, Crawford, Iowa. She married Arthur Harrison Farley September 11, 1912 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla, Crawford, Iowa. Arthur was born in 1889 and died November 15, 1951.
Anna's parents were both born in Germany and Arthur's were both born in Iowa. His mother Elvira may have been born in Missouri according to one census record. I have descendent information but very little parental or sibling information for Art and Anna. I have a guess about Anna's line, but I'm not certain. If anyone knows my family, please email me. I'll be happy to share any info I have. Thank you! Michelle Marberry

HOW DO YOU POST? Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
WHAT SHOULD YOU POST?
1. Questions about your ancestors. Give as much detail as you can.
2. Interesting history that is relevant to the list.
3. Genealogy and family history conferences, even if they charge for admission.
4. Genealogy societies should feel free to post about their society and their websites.
5. Book reviews of genealogy books are reasonable to post. A list of books is not, but sharing a good genealogy book you've found is a good idea.
6. Links to personal blogs that are about genealogy. They can be your blog or another. Even if the blog has ads, that is not a problem.
7. New collections on various genealogy sites that are relevant. We don't want advertisements, but if you find an interesting collection on Ancestry, FamilySearch, Library of Congress, or some other site that has relevance to the list, let people know.
