You have several choices for accommodations including the Elkader Inn, a
motel on the edge of Elkader; a Bed and Breakfast across the street from the
school; a private and a city campground; and a very nice cabin at the
private campground which sleeps 6-8 people.
The phone number for the Inn is 563 245 2020.
The email address for the B & B is Duwe-Peterson, Barb
Barb is a very accommodating hostess.
The private campground has a lovely cabin built from limestone and the
campground also has a large community room on the grounds. There is room for
many campers also at both the private, Deer Run, and the city campground.
Deer Run Resort: NEW CAMPGROUND. 501 High St. S.E., (563)245-DEER(3337).
Spacious campsites and a fully furnished cabin (with fireplace) on blacktop
roads adjoin a 5 acre lake. The campsites, available April 15-October 15,
have cement pads and full hook-ups. Free firewood. The cabin (sleeps 6+) is
available year around.
I am working on the Catholic church records; Myra Voss at Voss Realty has
many Clayton County Records.
Of course, you will want to visit the court house and the library in Elkader
and possibly Carter House Museum.

I am going to Clayton County the end of May to find records. Where
you talking about below?
Where are the good places to go to find information on your family?
Is there a nice motel to stay in Elkader? I do not mean a Hilton - just
a nice, clean place.
