Rites Held For Minnie Radloff

Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p. m. at St.
Pauls Lutheran Church for Mrs. Minnie Radloff, 94, who passed away at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Hamann at Garnavillo on April 16. The Rev.
C. E. Witt was in charge of the rites.
Born in Germany.
Mrs. Minnie Radloff was born in Corwalt, Germany on June 4, 1861, the daughter
of Gustaf Schmidt and his wife, Fredericke Schroeder. She passed away at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Hamann of Garnavillo on Monday, April 16, at
the age of 94 years, 10 months, and 12 days.
She was baptized soon after birth in Germany. She came to America with her
parent in 1881. On January 31, 1889, she was united in marriage to Carl
Radloff. They lived on a farm south of Luana until they retired and moved to
Postville in 1915.
She was a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville for as
long as she lived in the community, always maintaining her active communing
status. Her health began to fail in June 1955, when she went to live with her
daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband on November 6, 1937, her parents, two
sisters, Mrs. William Schlee and Mrs. John Kahle, and two brothers, Fred
Schmidt and Charles Schmidt.
Surviving are her four children, William of Luana, Henry of Postville, Mrs.
John Lenth of Monona and Mrs. Harvey Hamann of Garnavillo, ten grandchildren
and 29 great-grandchildren.
